OVERLAP SCENARIO 

If a vehicle is 0–6 years old and 60K–85K miles, the Dealer can choose to certify as Gold or Silver. In this case, the Dealer will be presented with both the Gold and Silver Quality Assurance Inspections and will have the option to choose whether to certify at the Gold or Silver certification level at this time.

 

Toyota Certified Warranty and Coverage 

Each Toyota Certified Used Vehicle is reconditioned to Toyota’s exacting standards by Toyota Dealer-trained Technicians and backed by an extensive used car warranty. Every Toyota Certified Used Vehicle comes with the following warranty plans.

 

 Gold Limited Comprehensive Warranty[1] 

• 12 months/12,000 miles 

• Coverage begins from the date of purchase. 

• It’s transferable at no cost, for added resale value. 

• Covers any repair or replacement of components which fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship. 

• $0 deductible on any repair or replacement of a covered component. 

 

Gold & Silver Limited Powertrain Warranty[2]

 • Coverage begins from the date of purchase. 

• Gold certification covers 7 years or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever comes first. 

• Silver certification covers 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. 

• Covers major engine, transmission components and all internally lubricated parts. 

• Offers travel protection that includes lodging and meal reimbursement when more than 150 miles from home. 

• Provides substitute transportation reimbursement while your Toyota Certified Used Vehicle is undergoing repair.[3]

 • It’s transferable at no cost, for added resale value. 

• $0 deductible on any repair or replacement of a covered component. 

 

24-Hour Roadside Assistance[3] 

• Toyota Certified Pre-Owned buyers are covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the term of warranty. Coverage begins from the date of Toyota Certified Used Vehicle purchase.

TCUV SILVER LAUNCH: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please reference the below for commonly asked questions about the expanded certified program with TCUV Silver.

Q. Is the certification and RDR process changing?

No, the process will remain the same. The Dealer shall indicate if the vehicle will be certified as Gold or Silver on the RO, and the TCUV Silver Quality Assurance Inspection will be available if the vehicle qualifies for the TCUV Silver offering.

Q. Can Dealers use a digital or paper checklist for TCUV Silver?

Once the TCUV Silver offering is activated for the Dealer, only digital versions of the checklist will be available for both TCUV Gold and TCUV Silver.

Q. For the overlap scenario, who decides if the vehicle should be certified as Gold or Silver?

The Dealer shall decide BEFORE the recon process and include on the RO for the Technician. They will then select the appropriate inspection checklist. If it is not on the RO, the Technician shall ask the Dealer.

Q. What are the differences between the Gold vs. Silver checklists?

There are 24 inspection point differences primarily related to cosmetic considerations. Safety and mechanical standards remain the same.

Q. Are there scenarios when a vehicle would not qualify for either program?

Yes, vehicles that are 7–10 years and 0–59K do not qualify for either program.

Q. Can Silver vehicles have aftermarket parts?

No, like the existing program, Silver vehicles cannot have modifications; aftermarket and reconditioned parts must be original equipment manufactured (OEM).

Q. What if the Dealer wants to change the certification level?

The Dealer shall de-certify the vehicle and start the certification process over.

Q. Will there be national marketing for TCUV Silver?

From a media perspective, the plan is to begin marketing efforts in the new fiscal year after the pilots and initial deployments.
